CLEARFIELD – Verna Mae Nichol, 86, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on October 27, 2011.

She was born on November 6, 1924 to Joseph and Margrette Duis Murphy in Mt. Harris, Colorado.

Verna met the love of her life, Calvin Bryce Nichol and they were married on November 8, 1946 in Ogden, Utah.

She was a member of the American Legion Women's Association and the Federal Women's Association. She especially loved spending time with her adopted family and friends. Verna enjoyed bowling, camping, and fishing.

Verna is survived by her caregiving family and dear friends, Beverly (George) Fearn of Morgan; Brandi Fearn of Clearfield; and Angila, Alisha, and Trever Piper of Clearfield; and Brandee Jo and Kaydee May, who of Verna thought of as her own great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin B. Nichol, son, Larry Nichol, and a brother Gordon and a sister Ruth.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Services entrusted to Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
