Walter Dean Campbell Jr., 62 of Burlington died at 7:07 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2011, at Montrose Health Center.

Born January 24, 1949 in LaJunta, Colorado, he was the son of Walter Dean Sr. and Frances Virginia Dare Campbell. On October 2, 1970 he married Linda Kay Mayo in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

After high school, Mr. Campbell attended Canton College in Canton, Illinois. He was a Navy veteran.

Mr. Campbell worked in the carpenter shop at I.A.A.P. for 17 years. He also had his own construction business.

Mr. Campbell attended First Assembly of God Church and the church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; one daughter, Patricia Ann (Greg) Romack of Aurora, Illinois; one son, Justin Campbell of Burlington; five grandchildren, Savannah Rose, Kaitlin Grace, Noah Gregory, Gabrielle Joy and Matthew Dean Romack; one brother, Gary Campbell of St. Louis, Missouri; one sister, Cathy Pease of Denver, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The private funeral service for Mr. Campbell will be in Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Norman Wenig officiating. Interment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites.
