Lyman's paternal grandparents are currently unidentified; his maternal grandparents were Martin and Olive Judith Mosher Lanning of Erie Co., NY.

Lyman married Mary Jane Gardner 12 Dec 1880 in Greenbay Clarke Co., IA . She was the daughter of J.M. and Mariah Jnes Gardner.

Their eight children were: John Oliver Oren, Charles Everett, Grace Lillian, Hattie Blanche, Bessie Belle, William Walter, Elsie Vivian and Mary Ethel Williams.

All that was possible was done for him during his sickness, but all of no avail. His suffering was intense, but he stood it all bravely, never murmuring, and he said it was all right--he was ready to go.

Lyman was of a bright, sunny disposition, and had the happy faculty of making and keeping friends, and he will be greatly missed in the home and in the community.
