KERNERSVILLE - Michael E. Roddy, 65, passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at his home. He was born Aug. 31, 1939, in Forsyth County, a son of the late Claude and Mary Belle Caroon Roddy. Mr. Roddy retired from R.J. Reynolds and was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jerry Roddy Blake; and a brother, Claude Roddy Jr. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Beeson Roddy, of the home; two daughters, Ginger Roddy Cranfill and Dee Anne Roddy, both of Kernersville; two grandchildren, Spencer and Austin Cranfill, both of Kernersville; a sister, Bonnie (Bob) Daniel of Kernersville; two brothers, Tom Roddy of Wilmington and Leslie (Brenda) Roddy of Kernersville. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Chapel by Pastor Mark Reed. Burial will follow at Pine Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 1, 2005, at the funeral home. The family request that memorials be directed to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or to Crisis Control, 431 W. Bodenhamer St., Kernersville, NC 27284.
