Monroe Monitor pg. 6 - September 20, 1962

A 38 year Monroe resident, Gustav Zerger, 75, died Thursday, September 13, at his home, 148 Charles Street, after a brief illness.

Services were Monday afternoon, September 17, at Purdy and Kerr Chapel. The Rev. George Kopper officiated at the services with burial in the Monroe IOOF Cemetery.

Mr. Zerger was born in Moundridge, Kansas, June 22, 1887, and came to Monroe in 1924. He was a member of the Country Mennonite Church.

Surviving are his widow, Mary Zerger; four daughters, Mrs. Viola Senner, Mrs. Leona Wahl, Mrs. Adeline Ward, all of Monroe, and Mrs. Lillie Malone of Bremerton; 2 sons, Garfield and Iven Zerger, both of Monroe; 6 brothers, Rudolph of Nampa, Idaho, John Kingman of Kansas, Peter of Monroe, and Henry, Bernard, aznd Irwin, all in Kansas; 6 sisters, Mrs. Ben Stucky, Mrs. John J. Schwartz, and Mrs. Emelie Goerz, all of Monroe, and Miss Elsie Zerger, Miss Anna Zerger, and Mrs. Martha Simmons of Kansas, 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
