Killed near Atlanta, July 22d, Jason M. Abbey, son of George and Anna Abbey of Leroy, aged 24 years, 6 months and 7 days; a member of the 14th Ohio Battery. He was pierced by two bullets whilst bravely fighting for his country.
We shall meet, but we shall miss him!
There will be one vacant chair;
We shall linger to caress him,
While we breath our evening prayer.
When six months ago we gathered,
Joy was in our circle then;
But a golden chord is severed,
And our hopes in ruin lie.
At our fireside, sad and lonely,
Often will the bosom swell,
At remembrance of the story,
How the noble Jason fell.
Funeral discourse will be delivered at northeast Leroy on Sunday next, 21st inst., at 11 o'clock.
