Ellen was born on March 25, 1924, in Walla Walla, Washington, to Callie T. and Elizabeth Mae Kinney Hicks.
She attended Waitsburg High School.
In 1942, she married Everett Laursen. They later divorced and Ellen married Kenneth Withers in 1944.
They lived in Waitsburg, WA, then moved to Grandview to be with family. In 1950, they moved to Mabton and in 1964 to the Columbia Basin.
Kenneth died in 1985. Ellen lived at Summerset West until her health forced her into a convalescent center.
Ellen had a passion for sewing, pillows, stuffed animals, and quilts were often homemade gifts given to friends and family, she enjoyed cake decorating and seldom turned down an opportunity to show off her decorating skill. Ellen had a green thumb especially in her rose garden.
She was baptized into the Othello Church of the Nazarene in 1966.
Her parents, her husband, Kenneth, a sister Betty and a son, Warren, preceded Ellen in death.
She is survived by 3 sons.
