The minor children were paid their share from their father Daniel's estate, apparently when the sons turned 21 and daughters turned 18.
He may have died 1859 because of his absence from the Iowa Census. However, several 1867 & 1869 Louisa Co, IA. deeds list Jacob Sowash. His son Jacob Sowash died in 1867 so it seems likely that he died after 1869. He married Rosanna (Unknown) who probably died about 1850 in Illinois. At one time, the gravestone was leaning against a tree so it may no longer be in the cemetery.
