Aged Monroe Countian Dies
Wm. Greenwell died yesterday afternoon at the home of his niece, Mrs. Douglass Buckman, southeast of Shelbina. Deceased was a bachelor, about 85 years of age. He went to California during the gold fever in '49 and remained there a number of years. Since his return he has made his home with relatives. Mrs. Si Bell Threlkeld is a sister of the deceased and Hiram and J. G. Greenwell are nephews.

Wm. Greenwell Dead.
Wm. Greenwell, aged 88 years and one of the oldest residents of Monroe county, died at the home of his niece, Mrs. Douglass Buckman, five miles southeast of Shelbina last Tuesday at about 12 o'clock noon. Mr. Greenwell had been very feeble and in bad health for over a year past. In early days he was engaged in the mining business in California and twice made the trip from Missouri to the Sunset State by wagon, once in 1849 and again in 1852. Deceased was never married and for the last three years had made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Buckman. One sister, Mrs. S. B. Threlkeld survives together with a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held from the Catholic church in this city Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery.
