Home and family meant a lot to Lloyd as he grew up without a real family unit due to the death of his mother in childbirth of his younger brother. He met Evelyn M. McElroy and they eloped to Oswego, Labette, Kansas to get married on 27 Dec 1932. She was 17 and he was 20 years old. They left Parsons, Kansas and followed her parents to Topeka, Kansas where they shared a house. He found work at a dry cleaners and she at Penney's. Lloyd went to World War II and served for two years in Chemical Warfare (flame thrower) in New Guinea. When he returned from the service they opened Blair Cleaners and jointly operated the business for over 20 years until his health started to fail. Lloyd and Evelyn were the parents of two children, Kenneth Wayne Blair and Barbara Ann Blair.
