Robert E. (Bob) Cove, 75, of Bad Axe, passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, peacefully at home.
He was born Aug. 25, 1936 in Detroit, son of the late Irwin and Helen (Rifenbark) Cove. He married Joann Krueger on Jan. 26, 1957 in St. John's Lutheran Church Parsonage in Port Hope.
Robert and Joann were owners and operators of Cove Sanitation for many years. Bob enjoyed taking his "55" Chevy to car shows, deer hunting, watching the Detroit Tigers, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bad Axe.
He is survived by his wife, Joann Cove of Bad Axe; one daughter, Brenda Emerick of Bad Axe; two sons, Wayne (Kathryn) Cove of Bad Axe and Ricky (Lynette) Cove of Bad Axe; grandchildren, Jennifer Emerick, Chapman Cove, Elizabeth (Robert) Bensinger, Channel (Michael) Woolford and Christopher Cove, all of Bad Axe; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Jodie, Donavin Jeffrey,Abby Elizabeth,and Austin Robert all of Bad Axe; five sisters, Dolores Smeaton of LaPorte, Ind., Barbara (Larry) Limberger of Cass City, Grace Shepherd and friend, Bud, of Bad Axe, Sandra (Gregg) Nicholas of Kinde and Diane (George) Messing of Ruth; two brothers-in-law, Bryce Schave of Port Hope and Lyle Schave of Port Hope; three sisters-in-law, Wanda (Ronald) Srebinski of Sandusky, Carol (John Wicker) Schave of Commerce Township and Charlene (Marty) Sharrard of Port Huron; and special friend, Melanie Maurer; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his in-laws, Earl and Hilmuth Schave; sister, Pearl Rogers; granddaughter, Jodie Marie Emerick; son-in-law, Jeffrey Emerick; two brother-in-laws, Jack Rogers and Wallace Smeaton.
