"Alexander served his country as a U.S. Army Ranger during World War II in the European Theater. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Loyola University of New Orleans and his Master's degree in Education from L.S.U. in Baton Rouge where he served as Cadet Captian of the L.S.U. Tiger Band. He retired as a Plaquemines Parish band director and English teacher, seved as President of the Plaquemines Parish School Board and established the Plaquemines Parish Teacher's Association. He also worked as an insurance broker, was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Knights of Columbus Council No. 6357, was past-president of the Belle Chasse Chapter of A.A.R.P. where he was the first Louisiana recipient of the Pinnacle Award, given to those for service to the community.
