Carmelita E. Aragón, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend.
Carmelita 94 years old, was born on April 27, 1921 and joined our Lord in Heaven peacefully on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, while surrounded by her loved ones, which included four generations.
Carmelita was a longtime resident of Cuba, NM. Carmelita will be fondly remembered for her cooking, generosity and loving compassion. Her home and arms were always welcoming to all with a warm smile and a kind word. Carmelita retired from the Cuba Public Schools and was a devout member of the Catholic Daughters.
Carmelita was preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Julianita Córdova.
Carmelita is survived by her three brothers, Emilio Córdova, Onofre Córdova and Paul Córdova, her loving children, Amelia (Ed) Aragón, Manuel (Vivian) Crespín, Susan Crespín, Anita (Robert) Ashe, Margaret (Elfigo) Gutiérrez, Maggie (John) Risley, Richard (Susan), Johnny (Irene), Leonard (Marilyn), Julius (Celina), Gloria Aragón and Randy (Maria) Mirabal, 26 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and other numerous relatives and friends. Carmelita will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those whose hearts she touched.
Special thanks to the wonderful caretaking from Amelia and Ed that welcomed her in their home for the past five years. The family wishes to extend a sincere thanks to the wonderful staff of Presbyterian Hospice, especially to her nurses, Karen and Eileen, who did an exceptional job caring for our loved one.
Visitations will be on Sunday, October 11, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 Fourth St. NW, where a Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. Another Rosary will be recited on Monday, October 12, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Leroy Crespín, Janess Vigil, Judy Scott, Jamie Sedillo, Frank Córdova, Mathew Crespín, Alan Gurulé and Andrew Pérez. Honorary Bearers will be Frank Maestas, Joseph Aragón, Danny Neville, Paul Aragón, Sheree Benson-Aragón and Jacob Ashe.
