Kathryn B. Strand 73 of Bremerton died Thursday at Bremerton ConvalescentCenter. She was born March 17, 1918, to Charles and Emma Buchmiller in Helena, Montana. She graduated from Helena High Schoolin 1936 and married Lynn. F. Strand March 10, 1937. They moved to Kisap County in the early 1940's. They resided in Poulsbo for many years until moving to Bremerton in 1975. Mrs. Strand worked at Naval Undersea Warfare Engineering Station, Keyport until retiring in 1989. She had been employed there for 25 years. She liked to sew, garden, work with horses and youths. She had been a 4-H leader for more than 35 years and was active in the Kitsap County Fair. Mrs. Strand was honored in 1983 by the Fair Board and 4-H leaders who named the fairground horse arena after her. She is survived by her daughters, Sue Campbell of Tahuya and Saron Rios of Bremerton.
