Inscription

'Sacred to the Memory of Thomas Venton, Yeoman of this parish. He died the 28th day of July 1809 in the 80th year of his age.
My wife and children dear ceace to lament. Since Heaven your tears cannot prevent I hope you'l live in mutual love that we may meet in heaven above.
Also on the south side of this stone lieth the earthly remains of Mary the late wife of the side THOMAS VENTON.
She died the 20th day of April 1815 in the 76 year of her age.'
