It has been reported that John Schuchts was born in Germany and was brought to America about 1777 to fight for the British against the Americans though this has not been proven.
In The Sun on 3 May 1848, it is reported that Col. John Schuchts died on 2 May 1848 at the age of 96. An obituary for Drusilla Schuchts Townsend, his daughter, appeared in The Sun on 17 December 1902 and mentioned that she was the daughter of Revolutionary War Patriot and War of 1812 patriot, John Schuchts.
