Clarence Long Bishop was born and grew up at the base of the "Bluff" at the north end of Keuka Lake in New York State.
He attended nearby Keuka college for some classes, at what was then a college for women.
He married "The girl across the street", Edna Helen Biddle.

The family for most of its years in Corning lived at 92 Norman Street. In retirement years, they moved to a house on the other side of the river at 413 Watauga Ave. About 1920, Clarence and Edna bought a vacation cottage on Lamoka Lake, "Gudnuf" which they owned for most of the rest of their lives. On many Sunday afternoons their children and grandchildren visited them there.

Clarence maintained a trim figure all of his life. He was about 5'9", kind and considerate to his children and grandchildren, clean spoken, sober, religious in the Episcopal Church.
