Military Info: A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Mount Union, Huntingdon County, July 15, 1863, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg July 16 as a private with Co. A, 22nd Pennsylvania Cavalry (185th Pa), and honorably discharged at term's end February 5, 1864. He is inexplicably listed as a nineteen-year-old.

1870 Census - He was a farmer living in Union Township, Huntingdon County.

He was 5' 7" tall and had dark hair and brown eyes. (From the company descriptive list.)
