Annie's first name is usually seen as Annie, including on her NC death certificate (Annie Garris Hewitt). She is shown on her husband's WWI draft registration card as Annie Eugenia Hewitt. In the 1900 US Federal Census, she is Annie E. She is simply Annie in all other censuses; however, many family trees list her as Eugenia Annette Garris. This is most likely her given name, as daughter Martha's middle name was also Annette.
Mallard Creek no longer shows as an incorporated town on 21st century maps. The area is east of Huntersville and north of the town of Derita, which are part of the larger Charlotte metropolitan area. There are numerous roads/streets named Mallard Creek.
