EDWARDS — Margaret Conklin, age 82, formerly of Edwards, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the Wilkinson Nursing Home in Amsterdam, NY.

Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Edwards on Monday, October 17, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. followed by her funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Reggie Curtis officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Edwards.

Margaret was born on October 13, 1928 in Russell to the late Amos and Elsie (VanAlstine) Webb. She graduated from Knox Memorial High School and married Herbert Conklin on November 13, 1947 in Oswegatchie. The couple operated their dairy farm in Edwards from 1959 until 1987. Mr. Conklin passed away on July 3, 2011.

Margaret enjoyed making baked goods, especially donuts. She grew a great garden and sold vegetables and her baked good at farmer's markets. In her free time, Mrs. Conklin enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting.

Her survivors include her four sons and daughters-in-law, Gary W. and Nadine Conklin of Amsterdam, Michael B. and Monica Conklin of DeWitt, MI, Dennis P. and Sally Conklin of Hendersonville, NC, and Martin C. and Jeannie Conklin of New London, NC. She is also survived by her sister, Olive Hosmer of Zephyrhills, FL, fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Margaret is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Herbert; five brothers and six sisters.
