Bill Knutson Killed in Farm Mishap
Spirit Lake - Amos William (Bill) Knutson, 50, well-known Spirit Lake area farmer, was killed about 3 p.m. Wednesday when his clothing became tangled in a power take-off on a hay baler.
Investigating authorities said he was killed almost instantly.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Union State Line Lutheran Church, Petersburg. Burial will be at Palestine Lutheran Cemetery near Dolliver.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Rhonda and Kathryn, both college students, and a son, Roger, of Estherville.

Amos William Knutson, 50, was killed about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday when his clothing caught in the power take-off of his tractor while he was helping neighbor, Carl Feeger, 2 ½ miles north of Highway 9, just west of Highway 71 in Dickinson county.
He was born Aug. 10, 1917, at Estherville, to Mr. and Mrs. Martin Knutson. He received his education in Estherville and Dolliver schools.
He was married June 19, 1943, to Ruth Stanerson, at Dolliver. They farmed near Dolliver until 1953, when they moved to the present farm in rural Spirit Lake.
He was a member of Union State Line Church, Petersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth, one son, Roger, of Estherville, two daughters, Ronda Marie Knutson, Minneapolis; and Kathryn Ann Knutson, Minneapolis. Also his mother, Mrs. Lula Knutson, Estherville.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Union State Line Church, Petersburg. Burial will be in Palestine Lutheran Cemetery.
