He was a son of Eli Gage and Hannah Rice.

He was a supervisor of the town of Cicero 1825-28, immediately followed by Hezekiah Joslyn. Gage's son Henry married Joslyn's daughter Matilda.

Obituary, published in the Journal, dated November 20, 1868

Gage - In this city, on the 19th instant, Judson Gage, Esq., aged 78 years. Deceased was on of the early settlers of the town of Cicero, in this county, moved into that town from the town of DeRuyter, Madison County, as early as the year 1813, and continued to reside in that same town, first at South Bay, then at Brewerton, and lastly at Cicero Corners, till the death of his wife, in 1865, after which he came to this city to reside, in the family of his daughter, Mrs. Z. Weaver, where he continued to the time of his decease. His occupation, while residing in Cicero, was successively that of farmer, school teacher, hotel keeper and merchant. He also held several important town offices; was for several of the first years of his residence in Cicero, collector of taxes; afterwards Justice of the Peace, and for many years Postmaster in that town. He was successful in his business transactions and aquired a competency. His politics were Whig and Republican; he was an unwavering adherent to his party. He died a peaceful and happy death, and in full communion of the Disciples' Church. Funeral services will be held at his late residence, No. 24 Montgomery Street, on Sunday, November 22d, at 2 o'clock P.M.
