Carrie Maricle, 94, of Carmi, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi.

She was born Nov. 15, 1916 in Mill Shoals, the daughter of Roscoe and Martha (Taylor) Duckworth. She married Louis Maricle June 20, 1936, and he preceded her in death June 16, 1985.

Mrs. Maricle was a member of Ashland Christian Church. She was a cook at Springerton and Enfield schools, and she loved cooking and quilting.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Marty and Joe Loyd of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary and Alice Maricle, and Jack Maricle, all of Carmi, and Chester and Gloria Maricle of Bartonville; a daughter-in-law, Sue Maricle of New Harmony, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Allen (Dondi) Maricle, Susan (Larry) Trembczgnski, Todd (Tracy) Maricle, Tammy Maricle, Kim Maricle, Tisha (Eddie) Malone, Wendy (Alan) Wells and Jeff (Maia) Maricle; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Roscoe Lee Maricle; and three brothers, Otis, Paul and Ernest Duckworth.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2011 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with Braden Willis officiating. Burial will be in West Antioch Cemetery near Mill Shoals. Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
