Mareen Henry Howard Duvall Succumbs at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn.

Mareen Henry Howard Duvall, 69, vice president of League, Duvall and Powell, Augusta Realty Firm, died yesterday morning in Rochester, Minn., where he had gone Sunday to undergo treatment at Mayo Brothers Clinic.
Mr. Duvall, a native of Cheraw, S.C., came to Augusta as a youth and had resided here approximately 50 years. Prior to joining James R. League in forming a realty firm in 1915, he had been employed as manager of the local office of the Postal Telegraph Company.
He was a former president of the Augusta Chamber of Commerce and always took an active part in any movement designed to improve Augusta's civic and cultural life. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and had served as a vestryman a number of years. At the time of his death, he was a director of the Georgia Power Company.
In ill health the last several years, Mr. Duvall left Augusta Sunday for Rochester in company with his wife. Death came yesterday shortly after his arrival in the Minnesota City, where he planned to seek treatment at the Mayo Brothers Clinic.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Duvall is survived by two brothers, one sister, and several nieces and nephews, all of Cheraw, S.C.
Funeral arrangements will be made and announced following his wife's return here tomorrow morning.

Final Rites for Prominent Augustan to Be Held This Morning

Funeral services for Mareen H. H. Duvall, prominent Augustan, who died Tuesday in Rochester, Minn., will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, this morning at 11:30 o'clock. The Rev. John E. Hines, the rector, will officiate and interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Fred W. Johnston, Henry Martin North, Alvin McAuliffe, John T. Chesser, Thomas A. Gibson and Hal R. Powell.
All offices in city hall will be closed all day today in respect for Mr. Duvall, and members of city council will attend the funeral services in a body, Councilman L.D. Evans, acting mayor said last night.
Council in a special meeting yesterday afternoon took action to adopt suitable resolutions on the death of Mr. Duvall, who was a former member of the city's governing body.
Offices of the Chamber of Commerce and the Augusta Merchants' Association will also be closed during the hour of the funeral. Mr. Duvall was a former president of the chamber.
The deceased, who was 69 years of age, was a native of Cheraw, S.C., but had long been prominent in the business and civic life of Augusta. He was a member of the real estate firm of League, Duvall and Powell. He died at the Mayo Clinic at Rochester, where he had gone for examination.
Mr. Duvall is survived by his wife, Mrs. Annie Jean Brown Duvall of 1118 Hickman Road, Augusta; two brothers, E. Walker Duvall and Hal P. Duvall of Cheraw; three sisters, Miss Fannie Duvall of Cheraw, Mrs. J.M. Witsell of Walterboro, S.C., and Mrs. John Justice of Cheraw, and several nieces and nephews.
