cemetery alongside the graves of his wife and daughter. Mr. Gaither died Thursday night at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. R. Lee Coffman, where he had been making his home since last March. The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Dr. G. G. Martin, assisted by Rev. W. H. Ballengee. Mr. Gaither was born in the Melrose section of Rockingham county on Jan. 7, 1848. In 1873, he married Miss Mary C. Fletcher, who died in January, 1902. He moved from his farm near Melrose in 1898 to Dayton where he resided until his wife died. For the past 30 years he has resided in Chicago, where he had been engaged In business. He returned to Harrisonburg last March to make his home with his sister-in-law, Mrs. Coffman. His only daughter, Miss Nannie Gaither, died in June, 1905. He is survived by one son, Charles H. Gaither, who is in business in New York. His son came here last Saturday and spent two days with his father. One grandson. Charles Leonard Gaither, and one great-grandson Charles Hudson Gaither, also survive. He is the last surviving uncle of Mrs. H. W. Bertram, wife of Judge Bertram, of the Rockingham Circuit Court. Mr. Gaither was a life-long member of the Methodist Church.
