John Betz
John C Betz, 67, of 116 Clay St, Tamaqua, died unexpectedly at his home Tuesday afternoon. He was born March 2, 1906 in Hazleton and resided in Tamaqua for the past 46 years.
He was a son of the late Ellsworth and Charlotte Johns Betz.
Surviving are his widow, Bertha Shollenberger Betz; a son Charles, of Sherman Oaks, Calif; daughters, Evelyn, wife of Herbert Curvey, of Tamaqua; Doris, wife of Ronald Ugolick, of Langley Air Force Base, Va; Helene, wife of Arnold Dausen, of Phoenixville; nine grandchildren, seven sisters, four brothers, Charlotte, wife of Roger Bell, of Ohio; Dorothy, wife of George Martin, of Schuylkill Haven; Gertrude Betz, of Tamaqua; Jean, wife of Dr Eric Walter, of Ohio; Ruth, wife of Lester Gerber, of Tamaqua; Lois, wife of Oscar Sinton, of Tamaqua; Caroline, wife of Gary Sinton, of Pottsville; Richard, of Philadelphia; Ellsworth of Tamaqua; William of Pottsville and Robert of Tamaqua.
A retired employe of ICI Corp, he was a member of the 25-year Club of the corporation; Keystone Fish and Game Club, Tamaqua and was a member of the Tamaqua Board of Health.
Services will be held Friday morning at the E Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Tamaqua with interment in Skyview Cemetery.
