Elijah Bainter died at his home ten miles south of Macomb in Bethel Township, Friday night at eight o'clock of pneumonia.
Born January 15, 1834 in Fayette Co., Ohio. He was a son of Mr and Mrs Jacob Bainter.
In 1857, he was married to Christina Ferrow. In 1865, they came to Illinois, settling in Fulton County. They came to McDonough County two years later and settled in Bethel Township.
He is survived by his wife and four sons and one daughter. Charles of Bethel township; Harvey and Clinton in Chalmers township; Nelson at home; and Mrs. Clyde Black in Schuyler Co.
He is also survived by 3 brothers and 1 sister.
