Found in The State 17 August 1952: Davis Timothy Weed, 91, died at 5:30 yesterday morning at his residence near Irmo. Although he had been in declining health for a month, his death came suddenly and unexpectedly. Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock this afternoon from Salem Methodist Church, followed by burial in the church cemetery. Rites will be conducted by the Rev. Paul Scott, the Rev. C. F. Dubose, the Rev. H. A. Whitten and the Rev. Paul Wheeler. Masonic services will be conducted at the graveside. Born in Irmo May 17, 1861, the son of Christina Meetze and Jeremiah Timothy Weed, Mr. Weed spent his entire life as a farmer in the Irmo community. He was a member of the Salem Methodist Church and active in church affairs. A charter member of the church, he was a steward for 60 years. He was a Mason of the Boyleston Lodge Number 123, AFM. Mr. Weed was married twice, first to Nancy Cumming Meetze who died in 1894. From this marriage he is survived by one son, Marvin P. Weed of Irmo. His second marriage was to Neomie Elizabeth Folk who died in 1924, and he is survived from this marriage by seven daughters: Mrs. Johnnie W. Meetze of Ballentine, Mrs. Jimmie Koon, Mrs. Berley Weed, Mrs. Leon Rodgers, all of Irmo, Mrs. Bennie Meetze of Columbia, Mrs. LeGrand Derrick of Petersburg, Va., and Mrs. Orin Amick of Newberry; and a son, Talley Weed of Irmo. A son, Brady Weed and a daughter, Mrs. Fannie Amick of Irmo, predeceased him. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Emma Fulmer of Prosperity, 31 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren.
