Asa Vernon Draney, 69, American Fork, died Jan. 6, 1992, at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo.
He was born July 30, 1923, in Logan, to Vernon and Mary Welcker Draney. He married Helen Justensen Oct. 30, 1942. They were later divorced. He married Lois Hunting May 25, 1971, in Elko, Nev.
He was a member of the LDS Church, living in the American Fork 2nd Ward. He spent his childhood days and attended schools in Star Valley, Wyo. He later attended South High School in Salt Lake City.
He was a veteran of World War IL serving in the U.S. Army.
He had owned and operated Payless Dry Cleaners in Salt Lake City and Tri-City Cleaners in Utah Valley. He is survived by his wife, American Fork; six sons: James Gregory Draney, Lehi; Daniel J. Draney and Samuel Troy Draney, both of American Fork; Kevin A. Draney, Spanish Fork; Casey L. Draney and Kelly J. Draney, both of Orem; a stepdaughter, Cassie Allred, American Fork; stepsons, Claude Lamph, American Fork; James Lamph, Lehi; 27 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Cyril Draney Sr., American Fork; step-sister, Sarah Mast, Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by a son Asa Draney, Jr., a brother, Virgil Draney Sr., and a sister, Vernalou Draney.
Services will be held Friday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. in the Olpin Family Mortuary, 500 S. 300 East, Pleasant Grove, where friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m or Friday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery with military rites by District 4 of the VFW.
