PIONEER, 85, DIES
George W. Ringrose, 85, former proprietor of the Ringrose greenhouses and a pioneer Milwaukeean died Monday night at his home 269 North Main st. Wauwatosa, after a long illness.
Mr. Ringrose first entered business here with his father, George Ringrose in 1858. They purchased a meatshop from Michael Cudahy at Second st. and Wisconsin av. and operated it until 1874. Mr. Ringrose then moved to Wauwatosa and established his greenhouses. He retired 20 years later.
Born in Leeds, England, Mr. Ringrose came to Waukesha county with his parents when a year old. He attended rural schools there and in 1856 entered Carroll college. He was a member of the Old Settlers' club.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sarah D. Ringrose; a daughter, Florence Ringrose, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the home. Burial will be in Wauwatosa cemetery. (Milwaukee Journal/, Tuesday, 20 November 1928, page 3)
