Death of W P Reynolds, old and Prominent Citizen
Occurred Yesterday - Funeral Friday
The death of Wm Pitt Reynolds which occurred at his home Tuesday, Dec 28th, brought a sense of sorrow to our community. In his home and in the mercantile and in the social life of the village, his death leaves a hard place to fill, and a memory that will endure.
He was born at North Greenwich Dec 07 1843, and was a son of Porter and Mary S Remington Reynolds. He was the last of a family of 6 children.
His early education was at he Greenwich academy ad at Ft Edward Institute, and in 1863 he graduated from Eastman Business college at Poughkeepsie.
In 1864 he purchased the mercantile business of his brother, J H Reynolds, and carried it on until failing health caused him to retire a few months previous to his death. In 1856 he married Harriet Preston, daughter of Dr Preston of Schuylerville. She died Sept 01 1908. He is survived by one dtr, Bertha, wife of the Rev D H Clarkson of Albany ad a grandson, David Reynolds Clarkson, a niece Miss Mary L McMaster, a Nephew Porter R McMaster. Funeral Friday from his late home, interment will be in the Greenwich Cemetery.
