Mary Ursula (Bindner) Lee, daughter of Catherine and George Bindner, was born at Baden, Germany, near the Rhine valley, June 7, 1859, and came to the United States at the age of sixteen, first taking up her residence with her brother at Chillicothe, Ohio. It was at this place she met and was united in marriage on July 16, 1877 with Squire W. Lee at the age of eighteen.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee came to Missouri in the fall of 1880 and settled on a farm near Carrollton, where they continued to make their home until 1909, when they moved to a farm two and one-half miles west of Bosworth. Here they continued to reside until 1916, when they retired from the farm and moved to Bosworth, where they have since made their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee were the parents of thirteen children, ten of whom together with the husband survive. She is further survived by twelve grandchildren. The surviving children are: Mrs. Frank Hardwick and Mrs. Lydia Staton of Wakenda, Mo.; Mrs. George Denning and John W. Lee of Kansas City, Mo.; Tom A. Lee of Sibley, Mo.; Mrs. Harry Squires, Mrs. S. R. Winfrey and Mrs. E. C. Carroll of Bosworth and Mrs. Hester Stoddard and Miss Icia of the home.
She was preceded in death by two brothers George and John Bindner and three daughters: Lucy, Barbara and Stella.
She united with the Lutheran Church in Germany when a small child and continued her church membership with that organization until 1930, when she became a member of the Christian church at Bosworth. Here she remained faithful and loyal in the work of her church throughout the remaining years of her life.
Mrs. Lee was a devoted wife and mother, ever her untiring patience and thoughtfulness toward her family where her pride and joy of her life. She was ever loving, kind and sympathetic, not only to her family and friends, but also to strangers with whom she came in contact.
Mrs. Lee loved life and humanity to the extent that she was not ready to give up her life when the time came. Her persistence to live no doubt kept her with us as long as she was, and words cannot express how much she will be missed by her husband, family and friends.
Funeral services were held from the Christian church in Bosworth, Monday, August 9, conducted by Rev. G. L. Bush and Rev. Louis McAdow. Internment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery at Carrollton.
