From the American Air Museum, Duxford: SSgt. John Elder Collins was assigned as a B-24 waist gunner to the 328th BS, the 93rd BG, in the 8th AF, USAAF. He was killed in action (KIA) while serving on B-24 41-23745, Katy Bug. His aircraft sustained engine failures on two engines and crashed into a tree while attempting an emergency landing at Little Stukeley. 18-Nov-42.
