Mom was born in her GrandMa Newman's home in Quincy, Logan, Ohio; this was mom's favorite place to be, she said these were her happiest memories as a child. Phyllis (Newman) Smith, Mom's mother was the oldest and Aunt Bette was the youngest of the Newman siblings, one of mom's closes friends growing up, they were so very close in age separated by a little over 5 month between them. Mom worked for a short while before joined the US Army and was stationed at the Pentagon where she meet dad, they fell in love and were married in Forestville, Prince George's, Maryland, United States on September 30, 1952. Dad's military service took us around the world. Germany, Africa, and Thailand to name a few, in each of those locations a child was born except for Africa where 2 were born. After returning from Thailand in the late 60's with six children in tow to Fort Ritchie, Maryland. Our mother informed my dad she wanted to settle down for good no more moving. My dad retired on 1 January 1968 with approximately 20 year of military service under his belt and a recent graduate of the Army's Satellite communication school. Dad pursued a position with Com Sat and then Intel Sat Operations center before retiring in the Late 80'. Mom lost dad in 2008 after a few years of failing health and Shortly after dad passed, mom was diagnosed with cancer and passed in 2010.
