Charles N. "Chuck" Bilderback, 74, Atchison, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010 at Kansas University Medical Center as the result of an automobile accident in Atchison County Kansas.
Visitation services will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010 in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Private family graveside services will be held. Memorial contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church and may be left in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.arensberpruett.com.
Chuck was born Feb. 11, 1936 in Atchison, the son of James V. and Mildred Christian Bilderback. He attended Atchison public schools and Atchison High School.
In the early 1960's he co-founded the Atchison Pattern Works where he served as co-owner, operator and professional pattern maker for several years until selling the business. Additionally he was engaged in farming in rural Atchison County all of his adult life.
Chuck and the former Betty Duncan were united in marriage on March 4, 1955 at the Carol Baptist Church, Atchison.
Chuck was a member of Atchison Elks Club and Club 30 and enjoyed go-kart racing, racing cars at a young age, woodworking and was known as a very social neighbor and friend. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Bilderback, Atchison, two daughters, Cindy Kloepper, Atchison, Cheryl VanWey, Atchison, two sons, Rick Bilderback, Atchison, Steve Bilderback, Atchison, a sister, Betty Pruett, Atchison, two brothers, James Bilderback, Atchison, Joe Bilderback, Tonganoxie, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shana VanWey and a brother, Larry Bilderback.
