She was the daughter of William Peter Welham and Reine Seraphine Theriot.

She was Daniel's second wife. They were married June 25, 1858, in New Orleans. They had four children:
Susan C. Brickell, married Joseph Forsyth Simpson;
Elizabeth Medora Brickell, married Leopold J. Martin;
Reine Rebella Brickell, married Florian Joseph Hebert;
Welham Peter Brickell, married Odette Rousselle.
