William R. Luellen, 61, a rural mail carrier for 25 years, died at Hershey hospital at 3:45 this morning following a short illness. Mr. Luellen underwent an operation for appendicitis at the hospital Tuesday night. He was born at Salina, la., Dec. 14, 1869. For 35 years he had been a resident of this city. He married Miss Clara Balluff, Oct. 1, 1902, and one son, Jack, was born to them. Mr. Luellen was a member of the Elks lodge and of the Rural Mail Carriers association.

Surviving are his widow and son; four sisters and one brother, Mrs. I. L. Spainhower and Mrs. Roy Bechtel of Des Moines; Mrs. W. H. Monahan of Davenport; Mrs. Charles Reuter, San Francisco; O. L. Luellen, Wichita Falls, Tex.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Wittich Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the Rev. Father W. L. Hannon of St. Mathias church.

Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. The body will remain at the Wittich chapel until services. Services at the grave will be in charge of the Elks lodge.
