Opal was predeceased by her parents, Leslie Lee and Jessie Sheppard Murphy, a brother, and her husband William A. Barnette. She is survived by great niece Kimberly Whatley and husband Michael, and their son Evan; great nephew David Knox; cousin Jane Cross and husband Noble. Opal retired from Motors Insurance Corporation/General Motors. Her most outstanding trait was loving kindness. She was a delight to all who knew her. She lived a long, wonderful independent life, still beautiful at 99.
