Mrs. Sarah Ann Hill Balmforth, 81, resident of the area for more than half a century, died Friday at 3 p.m. at a local rest home. She had been in ill health for the past 2-1/2 years.
She was born Aug 28, 1874 in Yorkshire, England, a daughter of John Jarman and Emma Marie Sadler Hill. At the age of 7 she came with her parents to America, locating at Salt Lake City, Utah.
She was married to Charles Balmforth, June 28, 1893 in Salt Lake City. They resided there and at Lehi until 1903 when they came to Idaho, locating first at Willow Creek and then to a farm east of Rigby in the Clark Ward. After Mr. Balmforth's death in June, 1913, she moved into Rigby. Survived by nine children...Mrs. Irene Anderson of Clark; Mrs. Ruth Ellis of Grant; Mrs. Mary Jones of St. Anthony; Mrs. Mabel Wood of Roberts; Norma Balmforth of Clark; Mrs. Angie Egan of Shelton; Mrs. Vera Harmon of Moses Lake, Wash; Mrs. Nellie Rolfe of Clark; and Virginia Balmforth of Rigby; and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Angie Perry, Mrs. Leon Durfee(?) and Mrs. Maude Young, all of San Francisco; J. W. Hill, Ceres, California; Leonard Hill of Tukwila, Wash; Mrs. Eda Crossen, Puyailup, Wash.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Eckersell Funeral Home with Bishop Bruce Eckersell officiating. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
