Sara B. Brooks, daughter of Lemuel William Brooks and Lena M. (Ropp) Brooks, was born 20 April 1917 in Dials Township, Laurens County, South Carolina. She married Clay Gray Hipp, son of Clayborn V. Hipp and Charlotte Gray. She died on 13 March 2004 in the Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center, Laurens, Laurens County, South Carolina.

..Sara Brooks Hipp, widow of C. Gray Hipp Sr., died March 13, 2004, at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center. She was the daughter of Lena Ropp and L. William "Tuck" Brooks and was the sole surviving member of her family.
..She received her BA and master's in English from Winthrop University and taught school in Greenville and Laurens County school systems. She retired from the position of librarian of Laurens District 55 High School in 1976.
..She is survived by her stepdaughter, Charlotte Arnold and husband, Thomas Arnold; stepson, C. Gray Hipp Jr. and wife Kay Hipp; and stepdaughter, Carolyn Burnette and husband Duncan Burnette.
..Following private burial services at Rabun Creek Baptist Church, a memorial service will be held at the Chapel of Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center at 2 p.m. March 15, 2004.
..The family will be at the residence of Charlotte and Thomas Arnold, 254 Deck Road (Blackberry Hollow), Gray Court.
