Gloria Jean Holman
Passed from our arms to the loving embrace of her precious Lord on October 17, 2011 in Minot, ND. She was born in Los Angeles, CA on January 26, 1942 to Roy and Dolly "Marge" Scott. She lived her early years in various places in California. She graduated from Elsinore High School in 1960. Upon moving to San Bernardino, she met Durward "Whitey" Holman, and they married October 22, 1960 in Las Vegas, NV. After working as a teletype operator for Western Union for ten years, she started a 30-year career at the San Bernardino City Unified School District and retired in 2001. Gloria Jean lived the life of a true lady and cared for everyone she met. She served the Lord and her grateful family her entire life. She enjoyed family and friends, including the old "Elmwood gang", knitting, traveling, and her home in North Dakota where she and Whitey spent summers. She was passionate in her Bible studies and enjoyed fellowship as a long-time member of Lutheran Church of the Cross in Rialto and Bethany Lutheran Church in Rugby, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, her dear step-dad, Frederick "Bud" Hutchins, and her treasured grandmother, Signe Hutchins. Gloria Jean leaves her husband of 51 years, Durward; Son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Gina Holman of Louisville, KY; Daughter and son-in-law, Traci Lin and Jerry Hart of Herriman, UT; Grandchildren Jennifer Sardakowski, Pamela Ogden, Steven Holman and Patrick Holman Hart; Step-grandchildren Devin and Candace Moore; Great-grandsons Ashton, Celestin, Lucas, Preston and Greyson; Sisters Barbara Bland and Wendy Day; Brothers Don and Bob Scott; Former daughter-in-law Debra Elliott; Best friend of many years, Sarah Sayre. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made in Gloria's name to the American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345, or the charity of the donors' choice. A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 pm, Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Montecito Memorial Park in Colton, CA. Published in San Bernardino Sun on November 6, 2011.
