BLUEFIELD, Va. — Ocie Edna Matney Barker, age 94, of Bluefield, Va., died Saturday, October 22, 2011 at her home. Born June 24, 1917 at Grundy, Va., she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Mahella Davis Matney. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Bluefield, Va. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Rufus Stacy; second husband, Clyde Barker; seven brothers, Lawson Matney, Lum Matney, Ezra Matney, Ed Matney, Ervin Matney, Jerry Matney, and Dave Matney; three sisters, Sarah Yates, Vicie Lester, and Orphie Keene.
Survivors include one son, Elmer Stacy of Oakwood, Va.; two daughters, Hazel Hensley and husband, Everett of Mooresburg, Tenn. and Jo Ann Massey of Springville, Va.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va., where a service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. with Claude "Lucky" Bunn officiating.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, October 24, 2011 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel with Ronald Thacker officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Ray Stacy II, Russell Stacy, Kevin Stacy, Allen Tibbs, Garland Stacy, Ralph Viers, and Kris Harris. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Frank Johnson, and caregivers, Marlene Cochran and Gail Rowe.
