Final rites were held Saturday morning at the Crooked Creek Baptist Church for Mr. Archie Holmes, who was 83 and died in the Simpson General Hospital in Mendenhall Thursday night. Rev. Rivers, pastor of the Crooked Creek Baptist Church, officiated and interment was in the Cliburn cemetery with Saulters Funeral Home of Prentiss in charge. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Effie Newsome Holmes; two daughters, Mrs. Jack Rogers of Newhebron and Mrs Tommy Taylor of Jackson; 1 son, Ethel Holmes of Florence; 1 brother, Pascal Holmes of Newhebron; 1 sister, Mrs. Minnie Chapman of Oak Dale, La.; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
