Daniel Bachtal Dies At Age 86, Rites Tuesday

Daniel L. Bachtal, 86, of South Second street, Garrett, a retired B. & O. carman's helper, died Saturday at 4 p. m. of complications in Sanders hospital, Auburn. He had been ill about three weeks.

The body was taken to the Zimmerman funeral home, where final rites will be held Tuesday at 2 p. m. Felix D. Walker, pastor of the Garrett Church of Christ, will officiate and burial will follow in Calvary cemetery.

Mr. Bachtal was born April 11, 1867, at Lockbournr, O. He and Sarah L. Sargent of Blissfield, Mich., were married Sept. 29, 1894, at Malinta, Mich., and they moved from that city to Garrett in 1906. They moved to Chicago in 1925, returning to Garrett in 1936, when he retired from the B. & O. She died June 15, 1950. A daughter and son preceded her in death.

The only survivors are two granddaughters, Miss Betty Bachtal, who resided with her grandfather, and Mrs. J. D. Brinkerhoff Jr. of 515 South Franklin street, Garrett.

Mr. Bachtal was a member of the B. & O. Veteran Employees Association.
