Sister to scientist, academic and photographic pioneer John William Draper, the image of Ms. Draper's face taken in 1840 was the first to be permanently captured by way of her brother's experiments and improvements with the Daguerreotype process.

Ms. Draper is buried in this grave which also includes her brother, John William Draper, Mr. Draper's wife, Antonia Gardner Draper and Mr. Draper's daughter, Antonia Draper Dixon.
