Indian Campaigns Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He was buried under the name of Albert Walter McMillan. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army in Company E, 7th US Cavalry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on December 1890 at Wounded Knee Creek, South Dakota. His citation reads "While engaged with Indians concealed in a ravine, he assisted the men on the skirmish line, directed their fire, encouraged them by example, and used every effort to dislodge the enemy."
