Entertainer. He was born in the Netherlands, but his family moved to Sweden in 1949. When the family moved back some twelve years later, Cornelis stayed, and was to become one of Sweden´s most popular artists in modern time. Cornelis Vreeswijk is distinguished by his sly lyrics, mocking the establishment, but also for his sensitive poetry, bringing the life of the outcast to the public. He made many records and performed concerts to the very end of his days. His last collection of poems, "Till Fatumeh" (To Fatumeh) is a brilliant piece of work, and met great recognition upon its release. A TV-documentary was made on his life and work, "The Ballad of the Flying Dutchman."
