A native of Fairview, he was born November 26, 1924, the youngest child of Lester Curtis and Sylvia Anderson Miner.
He graduated from North Sanpete High School and Brigham Young University. He married Lorraine Vance in the Manti LDS Temple on September 22, 1948.
Musically gifted, Myrth played the slide trombone in junior and senior high schools. He was also part of a ground forces band in the Philippine Islands during World War II. Later he sang tenor in a local quartet which performed at community programs, church socials, and minstrel shows.
Following his Army service, which included radio operator work, Myrth pursued dual careers in education and animal husbandry.
He taught school in four central Utah towns before accepting an assignment at Fairview Elementary. He was principal there for twenty-four years. He always raised sheep - even after his retirement.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and accepted callings as elders quorum president, deacons quorum advisor, Sunday School superintendent (twelve years), ward clerk, and priesthood chorister (eighteen years).
He is survived by sons Curtis V. Miner, Salt Lake City, and Barry W. (Donna) Miner, Fairview; daughter Sharene (Steven) Hansen, Taylorsville; and five grandchildren. Survivors also include three great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, and sister Leah Stansfield, Springville. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, infant daughter Jenny, and siblings Faye Tanner, Verl Wilde, Olen Miner, and Eddie Miner.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. in the Fairview Fourth Ward Chapel, 122 South State Street, Fairview. Friends and family may call Monday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Rasmussen Mortuary, 96 North 100 West, Mount Pleasant, and again from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be in the Fairview City Cemetery.
