Jones Kent Andrews, age 86, of 178 Andrews Ridge Road, Sparta, NC died Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at his residence. He was born December 9, 1924 in Alleghany County to the late James Kent and Elizabeth Edwards Andrews. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Dell Andrews; three sisters, Georgia Andrews Warden, Mabel Higgins and Mary Upton Dickey. He is survived by his wife, Pat Andrews of the home; two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert Kent Andrews, Jones Keith & Rita Andrews all of Galax, VA; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn & Kevin Tuttle of Forest City; six grandchildren, Angel Wright and husband Andy, Joseph Andrews, Abby Pratt and husband Bobby, Miranda Lowery and husband Matt, Matthew Andrews and Sarah Tuttle; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Tommy Andrews and wife Pat of Sparta; one brother-in-law, Joe Dickey of Greensboro; special caregiver, Kathy Cook; two special canine companions, Buster and Lulu; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Grace Community Church in Sparta. The body will lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow in the Sparta Cemetery with full military rites conducted by Bruce Wayne Osborne VFW Post #7034. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
