Tuesday Afternoon, December 23, 1958 Covington Virginian ROY J. NICELY Roy Jackson Nicely, 63, of 231 Washington Avenue, died in Alleghany Memorial Hospital at 8:25 Monday night. He was born in Bath County March 8, 1895, a son of the late James Franklin and Susan McCoy Nicely. He had made his home in this community for the past 40 years; and was a retired employee of the West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Ann Smith Nicely; seven sons, James Nicely, Baltimore, Md.; Roy, Gordon and Luther Nicely, all of Hopewell; Paul Nicely, Selma; Edward Nicely, Covington; and Robert Nicely, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Ann Haynes, Covington; Mrs. Dorothy Rogers and Mrs. Elizabeth Rogers, both of Hot Springs; four sisters, Mrs. Everett Landis, Mrs. Wilbur Byer and Mrs. Floyd Smith Covington; and Mrs. Leonard Edwards, Beckley, W. Va. A funeral service will be held from the chapel of the Loving Funeral Home, Wednesday, Dec. 24, at 10 a.m. with Dr. James C. Clark officiating, assisted by Dr. O.R. Wilson. Interment will be in Alleghany Memorial park. Active pallbearers will be: Arnold Smith, Howard Nicely, Junior Keyser, John Ayers, Vincent Cook, Albert Taylor, Floyd Nicely and Clarence Barnett. Alternates will be Blaine Cook and James Ross. Honorary pallbearers will be selected from friends and neighbors attending the service. The body will remain at the funeral home.
